How to pick

How to pick a kit

  1. 01

    Chemistry decides this category

Sub-ohm tanks and mods run on freebase at 3 or 6 mg, not 20 mg salt. Putting salt nic in a sub-ohm tank is the most common 'why does this feel awful' mistake.

  2. 02

    MTL vs DTL draw

Tighter mouth-to-lung draw mimics a cigarette pull. Looser direct-to-lung is the big-cloud feel. Most tanks are tuned for one or the other — read the listing.

  3. 03

    Internal battery vs external cells

Internal-battery mods charge on USB-C. External-battery mods take 18650 or 21700 cells sold separately and need a proper external charger. Both are fine — different routines.

What to know

Coil + tank care

  1. 01

    Prime every fresh coil

Three to five drops on the cotton through every wicking hole. Fill the tank. Rest five minutes before the first pull. Same priming rule as a pod kit, just bigger surface area.

  2. 02

    Stay inside the wattage band

The number stamped on the coil is the design range. Cranking past it shortens coil life from weeks to days and turns the throat hit harsh.

  3. 03

    Don't crank the cap

Finger-tight is enough. Over-torquing tank threads is the quickest path to a leaky tank.

Common questions

The honest answers.

  • What's the difference between a pod kit and a vape kit?

Pod kits are small, run on salt nic at 10 to 20 mg, and swap the whole pod when it wears out. Vape kits are bigger, run on freebase at 3 to 6 mg, and swap just the coil inside a refillable tank. Different chemistry, different feel, different price-per-day.

  • Can I use salt nic in a sub-ohm tank?

No — or at least, you won't enjoy it. Sub-ohm tanks deliver enough vapour per pull that 20 mg salt becomes a coughing fit on the first hit. Stay in freebase territory at 3 to 6 mg.

  • How long do sub-ohm coils last?

Two to three weeks of regular use. Coils run in a wattage band stamped on the coil itself. Pushing past that band cuts lifespan from weeks to days.

  • Do I need a separate charger for external batteries?

Yes. Charge 18650 or 21700 cells in a dedicated external charger, not via the mod's USB-C. External chargers balance cell voltage cleanly and end at 4.20 V, which is what cell chemistry actually wants.
